Welcome to the tribe, loves!
For starters, who else is more than glad to wave goodbye to 2020? There is absolutely NO question that 2020 was a rough year for many of us. I’m certain we’re all still adjusting to this new normal but try not to let the pandemic throw a wrench in your 2021 aspirations.
Today on the blog, I’m sharing a few goals I plan to implement and achieve in 2021. I don’t particularly believe in “resolutions.” Instead, I believe in making SMART goals and using actionable steps to achieve those goals.
My top goals
My ultimate goal is to help more mama’s like me. I want the Richoux On Demand brand and platform to serve as a one-stop-shop for all things lifestyle, motherhood, marriage, and career. My story and perspective are so unique as a busy professional, a mommy and a newlywed in an interracial, age-gap marriage. All of these things allow me to connect with and create a safe space for mama’s who just don’t feel like they quite “fit in.” I’ve been there and I understand.
A professional goal I’ve set for myself includes earning my CPA by the end of 2021. After some self-reflection, I’ve decided to switch to a learning style that better caters to my needs. Call me crazy, but I really enjoy a good “lecture” format for learning.
A health goal I have is to heal my pseudotumor cerebri symptoms through strict ketovore/carnivore eating and getting back into strength training. [Ketovore is a combination of the keto diet and the carnivore way of eating. Learn more about the ketogenic diet.]
So, how am I going to achieve these goals?
Actionable steps to achieve your goals in 2021
Make it visual
This method is an oldie but a goodie. Your goals, dreams and aspirations come to life when you put them in writing. And, it doesn’t have to be as simple as writing them on a sheet of paper. You can draw up your dream design concept, make a digital mood board for the year or get crafty with a traditional vision board. All of these methods are great ways to focus on your big-picture objectives instead of “twirling in the wind” with the small details.
Pick one over arching goal and use smaller goals to help you get there
Making a goal of grossing 100K this year or landing that dream job all have the same things in common. These larger and seemingly overwhelming goals are just a series of smaller goals at the end of the day. I love breaking down my larger goals into smaller, less “scary” goals and milestones because it gives me the freedom to complete tasks on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis.
Use your resources
Read books, watch webinars, network on social media and really make those connections. As you connect with like-minded individuals, you’ll begin to open yourself up to a plethora of information. Remember, it’s not always what you know –– sometimes, it’s who you know. Still, whatever resources are available to help catapult you onto your goal path, please take advantage.
Self-reflect regularly
Check in with yourself regularly to evaluate whether your current plan of action is getting you closer to your goals or not. I recommend doing this quarterly so you can continue making necessary adjustments along the way if needed.
Learn from every experience
Even if you don’t come out on top, take notes and remember that every single thing that happens on this journey has the potential to make you better, stronger and more developed.
